First opened in 1997, Kitchen Encounters was founded by Steve Grant. Steve was a carpenter in high school and soon after a residential home builder. He has been working in the trade and real-estate in one form or another for more than 40 years. The idea for Kitchen Encounters came out of need. Steve was renovating a historical lake front home in Wolfeboro and when it came time to purchase the kitchen and bath cabinetry, there were not many options in the area. Kitchen Encounters was originally located in Gilford. Quickly realizing they were out growing the space, Steve then built a new showroom in Laconia, NH which stands as the company's current location. Soon after the company was incorporated, his wife Connie joined him to form a two man team. In the following years Kitchen Encounters began adding staff while remaining committed to keeping the business small in order to provide a personalized customer experience. Connie has been an integral part of the business for over 20 years. While Connie runs the day to day operations, marketing, scheduling and managing the office what she enjoys most is working with customers and designing kitchens and baths. Having built and renovated many homes and their business, with her husband Steven, they are both an excellent resource for design, ideas, local builders and specialty contractors.
Heather wood
Designer
Since 2002 Heather has been with Kitchen Encounters designing entertainment centers, kitchens, bathrooms, and built-in closets. Heather enjoys the entire process of making her client’s dreams come true. Heather takes pride in bringing her clients from the very beginning stages of concept and design, to style and finish choices, to the final installation of their project. Prior to Kitchen Encounters, Heather worked as an Interior Designer in the lake region with experience in kitchens, flooring, window treatments, lighting and paint. Heather graduated with an Interior Design degree from Mt. Ida College in Newton Center, Massachusetts. You can preview some of Heather’s work on our website.

Judy has been Kitchen Encounters lovely showroom assistant since '02. Having previously worked in a design department, she is experienced in the field and has a great appreciation for the craft.
